College and Work Ready Initiatives

In addition to the College and Work Ready Agenda, there are many other national and state initiatives working towards the ultimate goal of preparing all students for life after high school. Here are a few that are relevant to school improvement efforts in Washington State.

American Diploma Project (ADP)
Launched by Achieve in partnership with The Education Trust and the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, the ADP Network includes 30 states, including Washington, that are dedicated to making sure every high school graduate is prepared for college or work.

Preparing all students for college, career and life, Gates Foundation
Through its partnerships in communities across the United States, the Gates Foundation is committed to raising the high school graduation rate and helping all students—regardless of race or family income—graduate as strong citizens ready for college and work.

Minimum College Admissions Standards
Released by the Washington Higher Education Coordinating Board, as of May 2007, these are the minimum freshman admission standards for colleges and universities in Washington State.
